ALL WE WANT IS HEAT; BUT, COMBUSTION ALSO RELEASES ALL THE TOXIC CHEMICALS AND GASES/EMISSIONS THAT HARM PEOPLE & THE ENVIRONMENT
Combustion, or burning, is a high-temperature exothermic redox chemical reaction between a fuel (the reductant) and an oxidant, usually atmospheric oxygen, that produces oxidized, often gaseous products, in a mixture termed as smoke. Combustion in a fire produces a flame, and the heat produced can make combustion self-sustaining. Combustion is often a complicated sequence of elementary radical reactions. Solid fuels, such as wood and coal, first undergo endothermic pyrolysis to produce gaseous fuels whose combustion then supplies the heat required to produce more of them. -- From Wikipedia.
All what Mankind wants in Fuels is the HEAT (BTU) released during Combustion. Thus, Mankind burns Coal, Bunker Fuel, Natural Gas, Diesel Fuel, Gasoline Fuel, Biomass, Wastes, etc. The Heat from these Fuels we used in producing the Man-made Motion (turning Water into Steam that runs the Turbines attached to a Generator that produce Electricity).
COMBUSTION is the Way which releases all the Good & Bad elements in a FUEL; the Wanted & Unwanted by-products. Thus, in addition to Heat, Combustion produces Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Nitrogen Oxides (NOX), Smoke, other Air Pollutants, etc.
NUCLEAR PLANTS PRODUCES NO CARBON DIOXIDE, BUT, IT STILL CONTRIBUTES TO CLIMATE CHANGE DISASTERS
The Philippines has its own controversial Nuclear Power Plant (PNPP-1). Some People think that Nuclear Power Plant is a Solution to Climate Change Disasters; but, it is only partially correct. Nuclear Power Plants use the FISSION Process in the Power Generation process; so, there is no Smoke and no CO2 GreenHouse Gas produced.
But, the Nuclear Plant has only 40% Efficiency. The 60% of the Heat Energy from Uranium is released to the Sea and Air, also contributing to Global Warming and Climate Change Disasters. And, Nuclear Fission also produces Radioactive Nuclear Wastes and Radiations (Gamma Ray, Beta Ray, etc.).
Nevertheless, best managed Nuclear Power Plants are better than Fossil-Fired Power Plants using Combustion as the source of Heat Energy.
The FOLLOWING FACTS ARE BASED ON REALITY:
Only about 25% or ¼ of the Electrical Power produced from FOSSIL and URANIUM Fuels in a typical 30-40% Efficient Power Plants is used by People in their Homes, Offices, and Plants. This is due to the various losses in the Generation, Transmission, and Utilization of Electricity.
The 75% of HEAT ENERGY from Fuels are wasted to the Environment causing the disastrous Global Warming/CLIMATE CHANGE Disasters. Thus, while Mankind continuously uses COMBUSTION to burn the various Fossil Fuels, Biomass, and Wastes; Climate Change Disasters will continue to worsen.
MANKIND MUST AVOID THE COMBUSTION PROCESS OF ENERGY GENERATION
Mankind can never be freed from Global Warming/Climate Change Disasters; as long as COMBUSTION is used for the production of Energy Requirements of Homes, Buildings, Manufacturing Plants, Vehicles, Gensets, etc.
Therefore, Mankind must get away from the COMBUSTION process of Energy Production. We can do this by tapping ENERGY from the following NON-COMBUSTION sources:
- Solar,
- Wind,
- Ocean/Sea Tides,
- Ocean/Sea Waves,
- Ocean/Sea Current,
- Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC),
- Hydroelectric,
- Geothermal, etc.
ELECTRICITY from the above-listed Non-Combustion Sources can be used in Homes, Buildings, Electric Cars/Vehicles, E-Bikes/Tricycles, and Various INDUSTRIES. This is for their in-house Heat/Energy Requirements using Electromagnetic Induction Heaters, Electric Motors, etc.
